Home from KP Cienega

We took this trip on this particular weeknend, because this is when the wild Iris bloom in the meadow. Gail (Shawn's mom) loved the Iris, they were her favorite flowers. We took her ashes there to "help the flowers grow" as Kira put it. We had a really wonderful time being a family, and I think it was a nice way to honor Gail.
We really wished we hadn't been saying our final goodbye, and had been able instead, to spend the time with her.

In spite of the bittersweetness of the trip, we had lots of fun, and made good memories.

Our first night we actually stayed in Show Low in a motel. Very nice, and clean, and other than the mattress causing Shawn some trouble, it wasn't bad. Night two, we had some very unexpected weather...we actually froze! The temps dropped unexpectedly, and even the dog's water was frozen over. Ugh. We survived the night, though I don't think I fully warmed up till the sun was out fully the next afternoon. It warmed up after that, and things went fine as far as staying comfortable.

So our first family camping trip was a success! We had sooo much fun, I can't possibly cover it all in one blog. So I'll post some here now, and then through the week catch up with it all.

I was hoping you'd have some pictures up to see! Yay you! Can't wait to see more. Love the pic of you and Kira, as well as the family photo.

WOW! Is it just me or does Kira look really grown up in that pic of her just posing? It looks beautiful there and I'm glad you guys had fun!!

I know! She looks so much older in that pic...a glimpse of what's to come I guess. Darn kids, they grow up way to fast.

I thought the same thing. Made me want to cry! And daddy and I both think it looks alot like Mikka! It sure is strange how family traits get around! We can't wait until we can go up to the White Mts with you all! It looks so beautiful and I'm sure it will help if we get to missing the green! Is there a place for our trailer? I'm not using a tent, ya know!
