I signed up, I linked it to Facebook, I had porn stars following me and I deleted. I think it is about the lamest thing there is but who am I to judge? ;)

I signed up for Twitter a while ago. I rarely use it. I tend to forget about it. I check facebook every day but don't usually think about twitter. Mainly because I don't get it either. And anytime I try to link something it doesn't fit. I must be missing something!
I signed up only because my husband wanted someone to follow him, lol. I don't log into Twitter at all. Facebook is enough for me.
I use Twitter all the time and much like blogging, I think it's what you make of it.
If your goal is to get a lot of followers and whore your products, it can be tedious. If your goal is to make connections with people, it can be fun. I follow about 100 people give or take and they're people I genuinely want to know what they're saying. I build connections with those people and see where it leads.
I also use tweetdeck which lets me do a constant search for certain terms (like my town for instance) and it helps me find people. I've actually made some neat IRL friends because of twitter.
Really though it's no lamer than hanging out on a message board or doing a blog or facebook. It's what you make of it ;) My twitter name is @geekdetails btw in case you want to say hello :)
oh! And for links, if you use tweet deck or a url shortener, the links are much shorter and don't take up all your 140 characters you're allowed ;)
